Цель урока: знакомство учащихся с правилами поведения в чрезвычайных ситуациях (во время грозы).
Задачи урока:
- познакомить школьников с природным явлением – гроза, правилами поведения во время грозы;
- развивать навыки речевой деятельности (чтение с извлечением заданной информации, аудирование, говорение), тренировать учащихся в употребление модальных глаголов;
- воспитывать бережное отношение к своему здоровью.
Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, памятка, тематические картинки.

Good morning, boys and girls! Today we are going to speak about dangerous situations in our everyday life. We`ll discuss how to protect ourselves from the thunderstorm. We`ll make the rules to behave during the thunderstorm.

Thunderstorms
Do you know what thunder and lightning are? Lightning is a big spark of electricity that travels from the sky down to the earth.
Thunder is the big noise you hear after you see lightning in the sky.
Thunder and lightning occur during a thunderstorm. Thunderstorm occur the most often during the spring summer.
Have you ever heard the expression, «Lightning never strikes the same place twice?» Well, it`s not exactly true. A man named Roy Sullivan was struck by lightning seven times in 25 years
Many people die the first tine the are struck by lightning. More than two hundred people are killed by lightning in the United States every year.

To be safe during the thunderstorm you should know how to protect yourself. There are some word – combinations on the blackboard. Make the rules using these word – combinations and the modal verbs.

What should you know to protect yourself from lightning?

Go inside a house, a building, or a car.

Never stand under a tree, especially if it is standing alone in an open place. Tall things attract lightning.

Never swim or stay in a boat during a thunderstorm. Lightning travels easily though water and can find you!

Stay off metal things, such as bicycles and motorcycles, because they also attract lightning.
-
Stay in a low spot if you don`t have time to get to a safe place.
Every nation has proverbs which we should remember to be healthy and safe. I`ll give you some English proverbs and you try to find Russian equivalents.
One cannot be too careful. (Береженного Бог бережет)
All is well that ends well. (все хорошо, что хорошо кончается)
Caution is the parent of safety. (Бдительность – мать безопасности)
Look before you leap. (Не зная броду, не суйся в воду.)
Discretion is the better part of valour. (Осторожность – лучшая часть доблести.)
