-Dear boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, teachers and parents.
You are welcome to our party “Shakespeare`s Land”.
The host of our party is Balatsky Zhan and the hostess is Savelyeva Svetlana. Today we`ll together honour the memory of William Shakespeare the famous poet of Great Britain and the national poet of England. We shall recite the poems by heart, act his plays, learn his biography, listen songs, dance.
One can hardly come across any other name in world literature that could be compared with the name of William Shakespeare. The greatest and the best interpreter of human nature, the poet of the widest sympathies, of the most profound knowledge of mankind was William Shakespeare. His life was full of mysteries. His birthday is uncertain. We don`t know how many years he attended his grammar school.
William Shakespeare was one of the greatest and famous writers.
On April 23, 1564 a son, William, was born to John and Mary Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon. It was a small English town. The year of his birth was one of terror in Stratford, for the plague spread everywhere. But, fortunately for mankind, the plague spared the house of the Shakespeares. His mother was the daughter of a farmer. His father was a wool-dealer and glover. He wanted his son to be an educated person and William went to a grammar school in Stratford and had quite a good education. He knew several languages: Latin, Greek, French, Italian.There he learned to love reading. When the boy studied at school he had no free time. When he had a rest William liked to go to the forest and to the river Avon.
Sonnet 17
Be scorn`d like old men of less truth than tongue, And your true rights be term`d a poet`s rage And stretched metre of an antique song:
Сонет мой за обман века бы осудили,
Когда б он показал свой образ неземной,-
Но в песне, знает Бог, ты скрыта, как в могиле,
И жизнь твоих очей не выявлена мной.
Затем ли волшебство мной было бы воспето
И чистое число всех прелестей твоих-
Чтоб молвили века: « Не слушайте поэта;

The forward violet thus did I chide:
In my love's veins thou hast too grossly dyed.
The roses fearfully on thorns did stand,
One blushing shame, another white despair;
A third, nor red nor white, had stol'n of both
And to his robbery had annex'd thy breath;
But, for his theft, in pride of all his growth
A vengeful canker eat him up to death.
More flowers I noted, yet I none could see
While still a teenager, William married Anne Hathaway, a farmer's daughter some years older than himself. Whether Anne was beautiful in reality we don`t know; but she was to be our Shakespeare`s wife, and so she is of interest for all ages. We don't know how he earned his living during these early years, perhaps he helped his father in the family business. During these years his three children were born: Susannah [su:'zaena], the eldest, then twins — a son, Hamnet (not Hamlet ['hamlit]) and another girl, Judith.
Will married Anne Hathaway in November, and she came to live in Henley ['henli] Street. John Shakespeare was pleased that his oldest son was married, but I don't think Will's mother wanted him to marry so young: Will was only eighteen.
Susannah was born the next year. All babies look the same to me, but Will was very pleased with her.
"Look, Toby, she's got my eyes," he said happily. "She's going to be as beautiful as the Queen of Egypt, and as clever as King Solomon."
"Oh yes!" I said. "All parents talk like that about their children."I knew Will's wife Anne didn't like me. To her, I was one of Will's wild friends, who got him into trouble. She came from a very serious, puritan1 family. A lot of church-going, and no singing or dancing. But Will and I still went around together when we could.
Soon there was another baby on the way, and one evening in February 1585 I hurried round to Henley Street to hear the news. Will`s sister, Joan, opened the door, and then Will came running down the stairs.
"It's two of them!" he said. "Twins! A girl and a boy. Isn't that wonderful!" Will called the twins Hamnet and Judith. John Shakespeare was very pleased to have his first grandson, and everyone was happy. For a while.
Sonnet 10

For thou art so possess'd with murderous hate
Make thee another self, for love of me,
Sonnet 20

A woman's face with Nature's own hand painted
An eye more bright than theirs, less false in rolling,
And for a woman wert thou first created;
But since she prick'd thee out for women's pleasure,
The Queen's Men came to Stratford in June, and we went to see the play. I don't remember what it was. I know that I laughed a lot, and that Will said it was a stupid play, with not a word of poetry in it.
"Why don't you write a play yourself?" I told him.
"Write a play?" He laughed. "Anne will never speak to me again."
I didn't say anything, and Will looked at me and laughed again.
It happened a few months later. I walked into the Shakespeares' kitchen one evening, and there was Anne, with a red, angry face, shouting at the top of her voice.
"How can you do this to me? And what about the children? Then she saw me and stopped.
Will was sitting at the table, and looked pleased to see me. "I've told Anne," he said quietly, "that I'm going to live in London. I want to be an actor, and to write plays, if I can."
"Plays!" screamed Anne. "Acting! Actors are dirty, wicked people! They're all thieves and criminals! They drink all day and they never go to church..."
"Don't be stupid, Anne. You know that's not true. Listen. I'll come home when I can, but I must go to London. I can't do anything in Stratford." He looked at me across the room. "Are you coming with me, Toby?"
"How soon shall we start?" I asked.
In London Shakespeare began to act and to write plays and soon became an important member of a well-known acting company. Most of his plays were performed in the new Globe Theatre built on the bank of the River Thames. Shakespeare wrote on an average a play every six months for nearly twenty years.

Look in thy glass, and tell the face thou viewest
For where is she so fair whose unear'd womb
Thou art thy mother's glass, and she in thee
But if thou live, remember'd not to be,
He produced 37 plays. He was connected with the best theatres of England during 25 years.

We don`t know a lot of facts of Shakespeare`s life. We can only guess what kind of man he was, that`s why there are many legends about his life. In 1613 he stopped writing and went to live in Stratford where he died in 1616. But his plays are popular now and millions of people admire them. Four hundred years later his plays are still acted-not only in England but in the whole world.

Sonnet 130
My mistress` eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red, than her lips red:
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask`d, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I live to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound:
I grant I never saw a goddess go,-
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet by heaven, I think my live as rare,
As any she belied with false compare.
