Solicitors and barristers
England is unique country, which has two different sorts of lawyers. They are solicitors and barristers. If a person has a legal problem, he will go to a solicitor. Every town has one solicitor. A solicitor deals with many problems. For example, he is in touch with petty crimes and marriage matters in the lowest courts. He prepares the case and the evidence. He really speaks in the Court for you. A solicitor also deals with matters outside the Court. He does legal work, such as buying the house, he writes legal letters and makes wills and deals. A solicitor hasn’t any legal education, only practice with a professional master. There are 600000 solicitors in England and their number is growing. Barristers are different from solicitors. Their function is to advise clients on really difficult points. He is also an expert in advocacy. Barristers never appear without solicitors and if you want to speak to him, you should do it first, with a solicitor. Barristers do not have any public offices in any street. They only work in London. To be a barrister you should have legal education, that’s why there are only 6000 barristers in England and only they can be judges in different courts.
