About myself and my family.
My name is Valentina. I am 18. I was born in Moscow. I am neither tall nor short. My friends say that I am thin. My hair is fair and short. My face is oval, my nose is short and turned-up. My eyes are large and blue. My parents say that I am a pretty girl.

I like to dress well. I try to buy shoes and dresses which are in fashion. I am a polite girl. I try to be a kind, honest and serious person.

I study at the university. I would like to notice that I am good at many subjects. I like English and History best of all. I like to read English books and learn poems and songs. My hobby is swimming. I go to the swimming-pool twice a week.

Our family consists of my parents, my sister and I.

We live in Moscow, in Lyublinskaya street. I can say that our family is small, and we love each other very much.

My mother's name is Marina Vladimirovna. She is 37. She is a teacher. She is a very nice woman.

My father's name is Konstantin Ivanovich. He is a pilot. I am sure he is a skilled pilot. My father is a very clever and kind man. I can always turn to him with my troubles.

I have a small sister. Her name is Lyuda. I like to take care of her. Sometimes we read funny stories, sometimes I go for a walk with my sister. Lyuda is fond of drawing. She spends a lot of free time drawing trees, streets, flowers and animals.

All members of our family have their own hobbies. But we like to spend our weekend together. We go to the forest. In summer we pick up berries and mushrooms, in winter we prefer to be closer to nature and spend some free time in the country. We have a small comfortable house and a nice garden near it.

My working day
I usually get up at 7 o’clock. Then I make my bed, do morning exercises, wash my face, clean my teeth, and then have breakfast. For breakfast I always eat porridge and drink tea with milk. I never drink coffee. After breakfast I dress, take my bag and go to the university. Sometimes I get to the university by bus, and sometimes – by tram.

Our lessons usually start at half past 8 a.m. and finish at 5 p.m. We have 4 or 5 lessons every day. At the lessons we usually write lectures, listen to the teacher, read different texts, then discuss them, translate sentences. I like to study at the university more than at school.

After the lessons I usually go to the library with my group mates, where we usually do our homework. I come home at about 6 p.m. First I wash my hands, and then have supper. Very often I go to my friend’s place. We discuss our problems, go to the sports ground. We often like visiting different sports and culture events. In the evening I watch TV-news, seldom read books. At 11 p.m. I go to bed.

Features of the character
Let's speak about people and their relationships. In our everyday life we meet a great number of people. Some of them we see very often, we are in contact with them. Do you know what does it mean "to be in contact"? It means to work with them, to talk to them, to have a rest together and so on. All people want to have friends, to be on friendly terms with people. But sometimes people betray us and we understand that we were mistaken when we considered such people to be our friends.

Real friends are always ready to help each other. A real friend makes your life happier and more interesting. He must be warmhearted, faithful, but not envious or smoothtongued. A good friend never boasts or betrays.

I have many friends. Some of them are clever, full of humour; others have many hobbies. They like reading, painting, music, photography, collecting stamps, coins and computer games. In short, they have different interests and that's why I respect them.

My best friend is... She is pretty, frank and kind (He is handsome). She is neither dull nor lazy, she is inventive but at the same time she is modest. It's a pity, she is not a brilliant pupil, but she always tries her best to get good knowledge. She is not a chatter-box or a lazy-bone. And what I like most of all is that she is always full of interesting ideas and believes in good future.

My last week-end
A week ago my friend Boris Klimov came to Moscow from Kazan. On Saturday he came to see me and my family. We decided to spend the week-end together and Klimov stayed with us till Monday.

We woke up late on Sunday. We got up at nine o'clock, washed and dressed. Then we had breakfast.

"What do you usually do on Sunday?" Boris asked us at the table.

"We often go to the country," my wife answered. "Sometimes we go to the theatre or the cinema."

"Do you often go to Central Park?" he asked again.

"We went there last month. It's a very nice park. We like it very much. Do you want to go there, Boris?"

"'Oh, yes, I'd love to. The weather is very nice today."

We went to the park with our children. We skated and ski'd and the children played with their little friends.

We came home at two o'clock. Boris and I played chess after dinner and we went to the cinema in the evening. The film was interesting and not very long. It began at seven o'clock and finished at eight. We didn't want to go home so early and went to see my parents. They were very glad to see us and we had supper together.

We got home late, but we didn't go to bed at once. Boris wrote two letters to our friends in Minsk and read them to us. We went to bed at twelve o'clock.

Complete your own text about your last week-end.What will be there in my new flat.
Every young man wants to live independently. And I’m not an exception. Of course, the time will come, when I will alone in my flat. I wait for this moment and imagine, that my new flat will be at least three roomed. There will be a study, a bed-room, a dining-room. Of course, there also will be a kitchen and a bathroom. The dinning- room will be big comfortable room with big table in the center. There also will be several armchairs, and a big TV set in it. In this room I shall receive guests. I also shall put a piano in one of the corners of the room and shall start taking piano lessons cause I like this musical instrument very much.

The bed-room will become my favorite one because it is a room of rest where everybody can spend several hours without noise and fuss. There I shall put my CD player that helps me very much to relax.

Another room – study will be the place where I shall do all my work. There will be a large table with PC and full of papers and several shelves. I am going to gather big collection of books, so they won’t stay empty.

That’s how I imagine my future flat. I hope that these dreams will become true.
